Chancing Motherboard

My outgoing one has a fault which means I cannot rescue some data on the SSD drive right now, so ideally I'd just swap the mobo and get it to boot into windows. Will that work without a rebuild?

If it's the same motherboard then yes, it should be fine

hmm, well i tested it on another computer...and it boots up even with a different mobo....

albeit withut high res, and sound,

Yeah it will do, but if changing a mobo then it's generally recommended to reinstall windows because of driver conflicts etc

cool - glad you can recover files this way by just moving the ssd to another machine.


in terms of the rebuild looks like a fresh install will be necessary then as im replacing the asrock z97 extreme 6 with an asus z97 sabertooth

So I built it this afternoon, and it was fine no rebuild needed! Just did new chipset, and a few mobo drivers and its working wonderfully!
