Change Auto-Install Location

I was just wondering is there anyway to change the auto-install location of programs? I try and install all my software to a different HDD to my OS. So automatically they all want to install to C:\ProgramFiles\... whereas I would like it to automatically install to D:\...

Is this possible or is the install location built in to the software?

You would generally have to modify the individual software, unless there's a registry modifacation or something you can perform?

Yeh I assumed it was down to the individual software. It's just annoying have to change the install path each time. ah well
