Change clutch while the gearbox is out?

I have a 2007 Focus with 68K on it. It is going in for a repair on a noisy gearbox bearing this week. Surprisingly RAC warranty policy is coughing up for the cost. Anyway, the garage have said they will need to take the gearbox out, send it away for repair and then put it back in.

While the gearbox is out I'm thinking it might be an idea if I pay to have a new clutch kit put in. Good idea? I have no idea how much life is left in it. It could be slipping a tiny bit or I could be imagining it. I presume a mechanic would be able to look at it while the box is out and tell what the wear is?

Three questions.

1) do you intend on keeping it a long time?

2) do you ride the clutch on hills.

3) do you rag it off the line often

if yes, then no brainer

Thanks all for the replies!

1) Yes I plan on keeping it. I'm hoping to keep it going for at least a couple of years.

2) No I don't ride the clutch. But I haven't owned it that long and can't speak for former owners. Clutch has always felt slightly high to me. But I don't know if that is just the feel compared to previous cars I've had.

3) I don't rag it. I've been trying to drive it nice since I hope to run it until I've saved a house deposit and then get something newer.

For the other questions it's a 1.8 Petrol sport with 68k on it. Sounds like it's a good idea to replace it then! I'll ask the garage when I drop it off Wednesday. Will give me a little peace of mind.
