Hey all

Am having an issue with a new windows install i made. The drive letter was wrong even though i took out all other drives except the boot one. for some STUPID reason it picked up the logical partition on there (my games drive) as C: before the previous active primary one

very strange

anyways i have tried the reg hack here
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=223188

it will load back into windows, then at the welcome screen just before the login box pops up it will sit there and not load any further

i got the same results using partition magics change boot drive letter feature

i dont want to reinstall, as I have got all drivered up and taken images etc, there must be a way to fix the drive letters without it breaking

any ideas?

xp wont allow you to change the boot/system drives letter in disk management unfortunatley

so there is no way to achieve what i want without a format?

does nobody know what i'm talking about when i say it stops loading windows just before the login box?

you can change the drive letter of the system disk. You need to find a copy of driveremap.exe on the citrix site.

maybe you can, but there are plenty of other dependancies that will fail, nothing checks all drivepaths and registry entries to verify them (as far as i'm aware of)

cant find driveremap.exe anywhere

ugh am having such a bad day, am ill, other partition decided to kill itself, and cant get my bkup partiton to have the right frickin drive letter lol

i dont understand why it didnt pick C: in the first place, but to not be able to change it is just annoying :(
