I currently have two monitors on my desk, an Acer XB270HU (1440p, 144hz, IPS and gsync) and a bog standard 24 inch Dell.
I have been wanting to ditch both for a single monitor, preferably an UW 34/35 inch.
However, any change is going to result in a drop in FPS which I'm not entirely keen on. I would be happy to drop to 120hz as my games tend to sit around 130-160fps currently so with the extra pixels I imagine I wouldn't be far off 120fps anyway - but 100hz is just too low.
I am worried also that going from an IPS to a VA panel might not be the greatest of transitions however the prices for IPS ultrawides are just too far out of my price range. At most I could maybe stretch to a refurbed X34P which would solve most of my problems apart from the fact it's second hand and you're into IPS panel lottery territory as well.
Finally gsync would be ideal unless there's a Nvidia certified freesync UW out there somewhere?
FYI I mostly game and photo edit. Now to be clear I am far from a professional photographer, I just do some freelance work for the local paper so although absolute colour accuracy would be nice it's not essential, unless VA colours are downright awful?
Edit: Ended up taking a punt on the X34P. If I receive a good unit then it would be well worth what I paid...
