OK, I'll be honest with this and explain why...

I use a torrent site (http://themixingbowl.org) which offer DJ mix sets for download. This is not a copyright breach as far as I'm aware so hope I'm not breaking rules at OCUK.

As its a private site, it works on ratio. The ratio is difficult to maintain so I used to clone my MAC address and get a new IP and sign up again once banned.

Now I have the Superhub, I cannot do this. I can get pass the site ban by using a proxy and manage to download the torrents. However the torrents wont initiate in utorrent.

Can anyone help me either force an IP change or initiate the torrents?

(Other than leaving the Superhub turned off for a week hoping for a new IP address to be issued)

The irony is, its a free-leech week which doesnt affect your ratio right now. I'd like to rape the Essential Mix year packs.

I dont mind them when the site is busy and easy to maintain, but this one you literally need to seed stuff forever to even balance it out. I'd rather just pay a donation but they dont accept them (in return for ratio).

Tried turning the router to modem mode only and switching back - no luck. Maybe have to wait as long as 7 days just like when you turn it off. If I had an old router available I'm sure that would work of course.

admittedly i don't use it anymore but when i did, i always used to download old rave/techno mixes from the 90s. it was impossible to build a ratio using these as very few people wanted them. so i just downloaded the a few new radio sets each week that i had no interest in whatsoever and my ratio rocketed.

obviously downloading these "megapacks" does hurt more because the download is bigger so just leave your pc on longer. :p

Virgin's IP allocation works off your routers WAN port mac address MAC address.
If you have a Superhub you are kinda screwed for the normal methods of changing your IP.

Only method I know of with the superhub is to power it off until someone else gets your IP address.

Bugger.

:(

My father in law lives opposite me. He just has the old blue modem. If I unplug that, how likely is it it will take my IP and give me a new? Will his need to be off for quite some time too?

Not a chance.

Been with Virgin about 2 years now and still have the same IP. Went on holiday for 2 weeks with the modem off and still have the same IP. Even upgraded from 20MB to 50Mb with a brand new modem and still have the same IP.

Your best bet is actually requesting an IP renew from Virgin. Even then, they most definitely will have no idea how to go about it.

Even better, get in touch with themixingbowl, tell them you're a new user and that it's not letting you download and that you have a dynamic IP address which recently changed. They may take it off the blacklist.

modem only mode will give you a "new" IP but it will never change after that. As Asim18 says -
The best you can do is leave it off for 24+ hours you might get reassigned a new one if ultra lucky

get on talktalk lol. (never hear anyone say that again) we have a dodgy modem that reboots every few hours and we get a new IP everytime
