So, where I live we don't have any fttc available to us yet and the maximum my area seems to get is 8mb broadband. I'm currently on BT and its dire. We've had some changes and about a year ago we were with BT and it was fine, getting almost the full 8mb. Now we're back to BT and its just touching 1mb. Becoming a nightmare.

So I'm wondering if anyone knows of a reliable ISP that might be better to try - atleast untill BT Infinity comes next year.

Well for starters you'll probably want to get off BTs infrastructure and backhaul network.
Pop your postcode into www.samknows.com to see what LLU providers are available at your exchange and what services are available.
Though searching for "Dunblane" the Dunblane exchange has absolutely nowt for LLU. but the rollout date for FTTC is end of september this year.
This might not be your actual exchange however so check it yourself. But if it is I'd suggest getting onto BT and getting your line sorted out as going from near full speed to 1mbit clearly something has broken. Hopefully that'll give you something better to live with until the end of the year (lets face it, they say september but it's bound to slip a couple of months).
