Change my Opteron 146 to ??

Just wondering, I have had my opteron 146 @2.74ghz now since december and its fine. But as there are so many new CPU's out there. Should I bother changing it ?

I do not wish to spend a lot of money though, i'll of course sell my opteron and im sure I will get a pretty good price for it.

Anything else to consider cpu wise or should i just keep it as it is.

Just not kept up with whats going on in the cpu area for some months thats all

how about wait untill those am2 dual core opterons appear everywhere?

Well, is it adequate for what you currently need? What games do you play? I'm in a similar position, oppy at ~2.8ghz, and its still a very fast cpu for most stuff even if conroe is better. Unless you feel you'd benefit from dual cores, the cheapest upgrade being to a s939 X2, I'd say stick with it until your needs justify switching to conroe.

Your only choice is really an X2 4400 or 4800. And you cant be sure it would clock as high as your optty. Better saving up till christmas and getting a new beast then.
