Ok, I'm going to be moving out of home soon into a new property. I assume I have to change the address to which my car is registered and also my Driving Licence.

Question, does any of this cost? I've looked on *** DVLA Site, but can't find anything to do with costs.

Also, do I actaully *have* to do this?

thanks

Greg

Yes, I had a lovely fine for not keeping my driving licence address up to date - change it! It's free and you can get the forms from your local PO :)

ah ha, thats cool!

I assume that they issue a totally new licence, i.e. photocard and paper counterpart.

Now, can I submit a new photo, becuase I look like a child when I had my other one done. I look nothing like it because of large weight loss etc.?

Nope, they use your old photo! I've just sent mine off to be changed after moving a couple of months ago

No idea on whether a new photo is possible or not, but I can confirm that your new photocard and paper counterpart should come free. Mine did when I moved a little while ago.

For a new photo, you might need an entirely new application - if you've lost a lot of weight since the picture was taken, whenever someone is ID'ing you using your driving licence, just puff your cheeks out. :D

I got done for a different offence, when they realised my car was registered and insured at my current address but my licence still had my parent's address on it they decided to make that an issue too :(

Actual offence is "Driving licence holder failing, when his particulars become incorrect, to surrender licence and give particulars." Maximum fine is "Level 3 on the standard scale (£1000)" From memory I was fined £65.

Ah I see. My car is registered and insured at new address, just keep forgetting to do my licence :o

I'll pick up a form tomorrow.

There's a section on the bottom of your paper counterpart, just fill that in and send it off. No extra forms needed.

Make sure you put the *correct* address on it, as otherwise they will charge you £22 for fixing that :(
