Change Of Tyres...

I am getting near the time of changing my tyres on my car, a rover coupe vvc, the standered size for these tyres are 185,55,R15. but these are really expensive (Eagle f1's are around £89!) but someone told me it was ok to put 195,50,R15 on my car, i checked prices and a Eagle F1 GSD3 is only £50, huge difference, but is this safe? thanks for any advice

Yup ive run 195/50/15's on my hatch for the past 4k miles with no problems! Toyo Proxes at £31 a corner!

(The turbo cars came with the wider rubber as standard, 195/55/15s on them, so no trouble with the slightly lower profile)
