Hey guys. Just need a bit of guidance.

I have ordered a Sapphire R9 290x and my order has been dispatched. DPD status shows "We've received your order details, and we're expecting your parcel shortly".

If I want to get a GTX 780 instead (sorry, didnt do enough research), what do you guys recommend i do now? I have already sent a webnote to oc uk.

Since it looks like DPD havent actually received my parcel, do I still have time to call oc uk first thing in the morning??

I just sold my 7950 and i am without a gfx card, should I go ahead and order a 780 and rma the r9 290x as soon as i receive it or wait?

Your order will have gone, you'll need to have it delivered then send it back under the 14day guarantee and order the other card

Phone OCUK first thing tomorrow and see if it's still in the warehouse and if they can do a swap, you'll probably have to pay extra P+P mind but you would have to if you DSR'd it anyway. Otherwise, if you have the money you could could order a 780 instead of waiting for the refund.

Refuse delivery of it and it will go back to Overclockers ( just don't sign and tell the delivery guy it needs to be returned to sender)

let Overclockers know that this is what you are doing as well.

Do not do this (unless the box is obviously damaged), the retailer will get charged a penalty fee, under dsr the consumer is responsible for return delivery costs, returning it in this fashion will be more expensive then accepting the delivery and arranging the return yourself

If ocuk let you get away with this then youre lucky, but as a general rule retailers are entitled to any costs involved in recovering DSR goods

Just return under dsr,

Why the change of heart if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, I found out that the 780 is £100 cheaper and I am not interested in BF4, which comes with the card for a price. I don't think £100 is justified for a 5% increase in performance.

Also I have a BENQ xl2420t monitor, so a 780 may let me try gaming in 3d further down the line.

I guess overclockers will not be happy with me if i do that. :)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I may order the 780 straight away. If I DSR it, how long does it usually take for a refund. I remember, back in the day, I had a leadtek 6800 Gt and it died on me in the warranty period. It was RMA'd but I got the refund one month later.

I have done this a few times in the past now and no retailer has ever had a problem with it. Some have even suggested it.

I would have thought DPD would just return it to them, but obviously i dont know the ins and outs of their contract with them.

Just keep them both and bench them against each other...:D

Or at let keep the R290x long enough to bench against the 780 before sending it back..;)

Thats actually good advice. I would try them both and would have a few days to make up my mind as well. I do get my money back in both cases :)

Fast in my experience, from return to refund in less than a week. Overclockers definitely seem to have stepped up the support a few notches over the years.

Don't use the webnote system just go onto the customer services section of the forum and put a post on there.

Bailey has been very helpful with me after I had a couple of things that needed returning.

If I knew I wasn't wanting to use a card I wouldn't open it, at least OCUK could then sell it on as new. If you can deal with the missing cash temporarily for both cards then just place your 780 order they will take back the 290X no problem under DSR.

Thanks mate. I guess it would be a responsible thing to do to leave the box unopened. I'll be alright with the cash missing temporarily. I just thought there might be a slight chance the card has not actually left their warehouse. I'll pm bailey if he could sort it out for me.
