Hi guys, I know it's possible to change the RDP port in the registry. Quoestion will doing the following satisfy our needs?

We have one static IP assigned to our connection and a hardware firewall for port forwarding.

We've just got another server so we want to RDP to both servers.

I was just wondering, if we were to change the default RDP port on one server, and then forward that port on the firewall, would we be able to RDP to it?

Cheers,

Mal

yeah you will. You shouldn't even need to bother messing with the server, the firewall should be able to map an external port to a different internal port number.

Yeah remap the external and internal port on the firewall.

I.e. external port is 5000 and internal port is 3389 so when you RDP you RDP externally on port 5000.

It's a pain otherwise to remember to change the internal port when you RDP internally.
