Change Terminal Name

Hi, how can I change my name in Terminal? At the moment it's showing as 'unknown-00-19-e3-02-d3-27'. Google told me to change the name in Sharing, but I've tried this and it doesn't seem to affect it.

Any ideas?

The terminal name should be the name of your Home folder, which I don't think can be changed. What's your Home folder called?

Edit - actually which bit are you talking about? The "xxx:~" or the bit after that "xxx$"? The first bit is the computers name.

But that isn't my computers name and I'm sure it didn't look like that the last time I used it.

In Terminal type: "sudo hostname <the new name you want>" (with out the quotation obviously), then restart Terminal.
