Changed CPU = Pooe Win 7 performance

On my phone so keeping this as simple as possible!

Had a E6600 but needed a cheap upgrade so ebayed a Q6600 G0.

Previously my WIN 7 install failed so have had to reinstall everything and all seemed okay, had a CPU ucode problem but a bios flash sorted that.

Perfomance is ****.

I get stuttery 1080p movies, terrible 3dmark06 framerates, even the CPU score is only 4500.

Now I thought, duff CPU maybe?

Loaded XP and smooth as silk, no issues and a 3Dmark of about 17000 what I would expect.

Any ideas?

I've reinstalled twice, all drivers up to date nvidia, dx service pack 1 etc.

Doing my head in. :/

Ps. I'm on 32bit w7.

Well, this is strange.

After leaving it for a few days I booted her up and had a look in task manager and CPU usuage was really low, like 1% so I was a bit puzzled. Anyway I ran 3dmark06 and Heaven and everything is great!

Really bizzare, can't understand what happened. Anyway, happy days.

Any ideas what happened? Also just out of interest I get a higher CPU score in XP than W7.. 5000 vs 4500 any reason for this? The overall score and sm3 results are better though.
