so, i just changed my gpu from my very old HD5550 to a gtx660 (friends hand me down) and my moniter no longer goes to sleep instantly when i turn the computer off.

presently its connectied via HDMI out from the comp to the DVI input on the monitor (it doesnt have HDMI itself) but this is the exact same way i hooked up the old radeon and it sent the monitor to sleep instantly on shutting down.

is this an nvidia thing? would it be cured if i changed to using a display port cable instead?

did you remove amd drivers then installed? if not might be a driver conflict; use DDU; to remove both drivers and then install new nvidia drivers

also check to make sure its set because sometimes changing cards will reset things like this.

yep, did a complete removal of the old amd drivers.

check to make sure its set? what nvidia cards let you control if powering down sends the got to sleep signal to the monitor?
