I've just put some brand new Corsair XMS26400 x2 2gig modules 800 mhz into my computer and the stable overclock i had before become completely unstable, so i started from scratch see how far i get, now i'm only able to get to 3.1 without getting any errors, anything above and it more or less fails to get into windows, if it does no programs respond.

When i try a mix with crucial and XMS2 it runs fine, (with either one of the new modules) However on their own it just tells me to do one:confused:

This RAM can't be faulty as i've just RMA'd some geils with the same problem, so somethings telling me it's something else, any suggestions? Spec bellow:

Asus P5Q Pro Deluxe
E5400 Dual Core
OCZ Fatal1ty 750w
MSI Nvidia GTX460

It's mind boggling how one mix module will work but 2 set modules in dual or non dual channel refuse to, I've tried upping the voltage of the ram to 1.9 but no avail.

Could it be the timings at all? they're C5's and i haven't touched their settings bar voltage to see if they was getting enough, i've never done timings before so can anyone shed some light?

Thanks.

What are the voltage requirements for the ram? The majority of ddr2 runs on 2.1v, but it will default to 1.8v. Check the manufacturers specs for voltage info.

Try them at 2.1v, there are a few ddr2 kits iirc that are rated for 1.9v, but the majority need 2.1v to run at their rated speed/timings.

Righto i'll give that a blast and run prime95, i read the error message i was getting was RAM related.

(Fatal Error: rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4)

Sadly still no avail, when i bumped it to 2.1 it got to post then restarted, back down to 2 still did it, i had to reset the bios via CMOS.

The settings i had was:

FSB 265 (stock 200)
CPU Volt 1.4
NB 1.3 (Also tried 4)
FSB Termination 1.4
