Changed SATA drives, now audio and video are static-y

I got an internal HDD dock today, so I've connected it up and it's pretty decent. It uses a SATA connection.

After I did this I changed all my SATA controllers to ACHI in order to gain hot-swap superpowers, but then I couldn't access my main storage drive and uTorrent was crashing as soon as it started; so I changed them all back to IDE mode except for the controller that the HDD dock is connected to. My mobo has 3 separate SATA controllers, which is handy.

uTorrent is still crashing though - and it's not even downloading anything. I've also noticed that when playing music and video from my main storage harddrive, there is static in the audio that wasn't there before.

This seems kind of weird, and I can only think it's related to... the power?
I'm sure my supply is plenty powerful, but maybe the HDD dock is putting spikes in the power? I should add that the HDD dock is turned off.

I'll do a few tests to try to narrow this down, but I thought someone here might have some helpful tips.

Thanks

it could be more a windows thing, you have a separate drive for windows?
windows gets ****y if you change between ide and achi

Yeah Windows is on an SSD, then there's an internal HDD for stuff, and now there's my new dock. Also a DVD drive.

My main storage drive has just become inaccessible again. I will now restart and change its controller to one of the others...

EDIT: Well, changing the controller seemed to fix things. Interesting that this happened, but at least it's not currently posing a problem.
