Well basically I am stuck deciding what Mac to go for. I am fed up with Winblows now and I am changing to Mac around June.

I will have a budget of around £1000 - £1500 at the most. I would like a nice MacBook Pro, but I can't say i'd ever take it anywhere other than around my house so I may be better of with a decent Mac Mini or a second hand PowerMac? I don't really know how fast the Macs are or anything as I have never used one. I would be using it for a lot of heavy Photoshopping really and the usual web browsing ect, wont be gaming on it though.

So what is everyones experiences with them then? I'm sure it will be a lot faster than my current Pentium 4 PC.

Edit: forgot to add, I will already have a monitor so that wont be a problem.

If you can get a second hand Powermac G5 then that might be an option, but I do think you'd be better in the long term to go with the newer intel Macs

I would definatly be getting a Mac with the Intel processor in it, but I do like the mobility and looks of a Macbook Pro. Can you get MacBook Pros refurbished as well?

i would recommend a macbook and an external monitor, you could use it in claimshell mode when at home on a nice screen but still have a portable machine, its got a better cpu that the mini too.

Sounds like a good idea, will use it on my HDTV that I am using at the moment for my PC. Will a Macbook Pro be good enough for my main computer then, as it will be my only computer once i've sold my Pc.
