Now you may all think that having a custom theme is slightly silly, however I do miss my chique desktop from windows xp and I fancy a change.

Anyway I'm trying to apply this theme:

And to apply it I've followed all the instructions in the readme which are as follows:

You will need a patched uxtheme.dll file or VistaGlazz to apply the theme.
VistaGlazz can be found here: http://www.codegazer.com/vistaglazz.htm
To replace system files in Windows Vista you need to be the owner of a file.

Take ownership of files in Windows Vista:
_________________________________________
Right-click the file you want to take ownership of & go to properties.
Go to the 'Security' tab.
Click on 'Advanced'.
Go to the 'Owner' tab & click edit.
Click on your name & apply.

Exit the properties to apply changes
Go once again into the properties of the file.
Go once again to the 'Security' tab.
Click on your name and then edit, give yourself full permission on the file.
Apply, close and you're done.

Visual Style:
_____________
Copy the visual style into your \Windows\Resources\Themes folder
Doubleclick the msstyle file and apply the theme.

Shell32.dll for the topshellstyle:
__________________________
Take ownership of the original shell32.dll file in your Windows\System32 folder
Rename it to shell32.dll.original

Copy and paste the new shell32.dll into your Windows\System32 folder

A RESTART MIGHT BE NECESSARY!

Enjoy

The problem that occurs is that when I try and copy the new shell32.dll file into the system32 folder, it comes up with the "time remaining..." window showing that it's copying but once finished, nothing comes up.

I've had to run sytem restore to get back to normal as I couldn't transfer a back up of the original file across either.

Please help OCUK!

thanks :)
