Ok the situation is, I rent a house with 2 mates, we have a direct debit setup from his account that pay the agency, we have been ‘out of contract’ for about 2 years now and therefore the rent has not gone up and we don’t have to pay ‘sighing on’ fee’s.

The problem is my house mate has the direct debit on his bank account and name, we need to change that to my bank without alerting the agency, anyone know if that is possible to do? He moves out at the end of the month, and i know going to the agency will resort in a signing fee and being tied to a contract

Get him to cancel his.

Then you set up a standing order to their account.

You will probably have to call the agency to tell them that you are taking over the payments. I guess you don't have to tell them he is moving out though.

I am sure they know you are still there.

I am in the same situation with my letting agency, I have even pointed out to them we are on a rolling contract at the moment and they haven't said anything.

This is perfect for us as it means if we suddenly want to move we only have to give 1 month notice :)
