Changing address for Driving Licence/V5

Is it true that theres a massive back-log? my freind at work told me he hasnt received his licence back after 12 months!

may be now, done mine about 2month ago got it back within weeks. Prob best to try call them, but you will prob get a std reply. "we AIM to get everything...."

I sent my driving licence off at the end of May to change the address, I got the new one about 2 weeks later .

My wife sent off hers on the 8th June (got the recorded delivery thing in my wallet) to get the address changed and also her name changed from her maiden name (this is after almost a year of marriage) and it was back after about a week.

Ermmm - I think maybe he should be chasing things a little.
When my dad passed away about ten weeks ago we had the V5 changed from his name to my brothers - that took 10 days.
Last time I had to update my driving license it took about a week and then about the same again when the wife changed the name on her provisional.

If I hadn't had things returned within a month I'd be chasing - let alone a year.
