Has anyone done this?

If yes then does the date when you obtained a driver's license remain on the new UK license as well?

Basically I'm 21, with a full EU driver's license since 18 so although I have no NCB it still is a huge difference in insurance if I swap from "EU license held for 3 years" to "UK license held for 0 years".

So do I get to keep my 3 years of "experience" on the UK license?

Yes you do. Driving license will have separate issue date for license and separate date when you passed the test for each category on reverse.

When you say an 'EU' drivers license is this something in of it's self or do you just mean a license from another EU country ?

it's a standard driver's license from another EU country.
just noticed that it does say the date when the category was obtained on the back of mine as well.
