Will try to keep this short.

Wife made me sit through a 2 hour ballet performance of Romeo and Juliet. Now, I admit it is my problem for not knowing the story other then the general gist (studied three other Shakespeare plays at school just not Romeo and Juliet.)

So, please believe me there was physical pain involved (the seats were uncomfortable and the theatre was hot) and emotional trauma (feeling like an idiot for not knowing who the men in brown were as they were neither Capulets nor Montagues, people dying and then not only dancing around for five further minutes but then dancing up to heaven extending my pain).

I have taken a bullet for her...that is not in a literal sense. It was an actual one and this pain was worse.

So, as a way of showing my "appreciation", do I use negative reinforcement to show my displeasure and give her my old rig and buy an entirely new system for me?

Or do I try and turn the entire experience into a positive one by making her re sit her A levels...after all, I had to grit my teeth in pain and grin and bear it as well?

I would consider other options so feel free to make suggestions. However, I am not going to post anything "biological" through the letterbox as that would be cutting off my nose to spite my face.

These all seem rather extreme responses. Surely like for like is the only equitable approach. So watch a two hour movie or insist she accompany you to an event that you will enjoy but which she wouldn't normally join you at. Really, operant conditioning is not a healthy approach to a relationship and she'll probably just return the favour in some way.
