Changing cards ?

Can someone help me please, If I change my GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB GDDR5 128 bit Graphics Card for a
GTX 970 G1 Gaming Edition Gaming Graphics Card (4GB, PCI Express would I have to replace anything else in my PC ?. I want to be able to play Microsoft Flight Sim 2020.

I think its a 40 wats, not a hundred percent sure though.

I doubt its 40 watts more like 400 watts open your case and check what make model and let me know.

For the gtx 970 500w is recommended.

Hi Micky, i had a look at the power supply and also took a picture but i don't know how to upload it here , anyway its made by FSP GROUP INC, and its lower than what I thought it's total output is
250W I hope this helps.

A 1050ti is not far off a 970 more or less equal give or take its not really worth it. If you can a 980 or 980ti would be better assuming you can find one. Arguably the 970 has less RAM than a 1050ti too.

250w is asking for trouble if you upgrade your GPU, it's marginal already!

Thanks for your suggestions , I will be upgrading my power supply to 500 watts as suggested , now just to be sure what card would you purchase out of the ones you suggested ?

I would get at least a 650-750w gold rated PSU.

In terms of GPU, I have a 980ti and can play FS2020 at around 30-50fps at 1080p with an i7 9700k at 5ghz, so it's perfectly playable with an aging system like mine.

But, good luck finding any GPU right now!

A gtx 970 is about 40 to 50 % faster than the 1050ti not sure where @varkanoid is getting his stats from.

sorry was thinking of a 1060 although dont know what Flight Sim 2020 will make of the 3.5GB of memory in the 970.

BTW what CPU does the OP have as it needs a decent one too.

At what settings though as I've read 1080p GTX 970 with Low LOD/Medium settings will do 20-30fps.

Mainly high with a few medium settings.

In GA aircraft it's comfortably in the 40s, with airliners around 30-40fps, depending on airport.

I used to play 4k at 70% Res scaling and lock to 30fps, but would get dips to the 20s, so I've just tweaked and found something I'm happy with, as it would always get choppy on approach making landings hard

Thanks everyone for all your input, This is what I have decided to do but I just would like your thoughts are before I start spending money, Replacing my 240w for a 500w psu, Putting a AMD3 1200 processor and replacing my graphics card 1050 for a AMD Radeon RX 570.
These are the minimum system requirements for Flight Sim 2020. So what's your thoughts please?

I would get a better CPU if I were you, however I'm not sure what the climate is with stock.

Nope, anything with Ryzen in the name will need a new board (and any older AMD kit would be too slow to recommend for your use).

a Ryzen 3600 + B550 based motherboard would be best for a budget gaming build. If you want to spend a little less then a 1600 with a B350 or B450 would be good but the 1600 is getting very hard to find now.
