Changing components for order

Just heard from the OC guys and they do not have a the cpu cooler or the case I had ordered. They have offered me a Corsair H70 for a few extra quid as a replacement for the Prolimatech CPU cooler I wanted originally.

I was just wondering if I should say "yeah that's ok" or if I should pick another cooler.

As for the tower (Coolermaster CM-690 case). I am quite sad about this because it seemed like a really good tower for the money. Could anyone suggest a new tower for about the same price that would be just as good?

Need these few additions to complete my order :)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Lol I didnt even realise it was a water cooler. Why would they recommend that when I originally wanted air cooling? :S. I would like to stick to air cooling as I don't really know anything about water cooling installation/maintenance wise.

Basically I ordered the bundle below but, the cooler is unavailable so i need to find something to replace it with. My dilemma is trying to find a new cpu cooler and a new case that will be compatible with all my other components with little or no extra cost/performance drop.

-Krypton Rampage Extreme Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz @ 4.20GHz Overclocked Bundle
-HIS ATI Radeon HD 6950 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
-OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G)
-Antec TruePower New Modular 650W Power Supply
-LG CH10LS20 10x BluRay-ROM / 16x DVD±RW Drive - Black (Retail)
-Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM 1yr Warranty (ST31500341AS)

Sorry or the wall of text :P

Thanks

Hey, look at teh coolermaster storm scout, if you like it, good case and good value
Personally Id stick to air cooler and get something like the Noctua NH-U12P

Would the components I added fit in that tower?

It looks like the Noctua cooler is also out of stock. I also need to make sure OCUK has the Cooler in stock otherwise I would be no better off than I was before. :(

Thanks

sry missed it was out of stock, in that case get the storm and a titan fenrir, not quite as good but will still provide 95% of the cooling, offsets the slightly higher case cost too

Ok then,

-Krypton Rampage Extreme Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz @ 4.20GHz Overclocked Bundle + Titan Fenir evo cpu.
-HIS ATI Radeon HD 6950 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
-OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G)
-Antec TruePower New Modular 650W Power Supply
-Coolermaster Storm Scout Gaming Case - Black
-LG CH10LS20 10x BluRay-ROM / 16x DVD±RW Drive - Black (Retail)
-Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM 1yr Warranty (ST31500341AS)

Everything looking good/non explosive/performance crippling?.

ahhhh.....id make a bit of a fuss and see if the nice people of ocuk would do it a bit cheaper :D they aint going to go to £75 though.....bear in mind thats a top spec rig and deserves a decent case.....just do some research you have alittle time and read current reviews...i will have another look and see if theres any thing else i would recommend...

Will carry on doing some research. Just seeing what people were going to throw about. :)

Also 99% sure
If youre going down this route you may as well get the HAF X for a little bit more, however a HAF X (or 932) and H70 are a lot more than your original budget, if youre fine with that then go for it, as I said before though if youre wanting to stick to budget the Scout Storm and Titan Fenrir are a good combo

start a thread asking that specific question....i think it would be fine but would hate to say for sure and its not......im 99.9% sure it will fit by a mile though as its a decent size quality case

Thanks for your help guys. I have made a thread just to see if people can come up with a few reasons to see if it really is worth bankrupting myself for the HAF X/932 with the H70.

How long is the 6950 and are the power sockets on the end of the card or the top? The Scout is only a "midi" tower and not a full tower and only has 10.5" between the rear of the case and the hdd cage. If that 6950 is close to 10.5" then it will be a squeeze to get the power plugs in if they are on the end of the card.

Don't get me wrong, the Scout is a good case. I have one and rate it better than my Lian-Li PC-P50. It's just a bit tight for larger cards.

Well the 6950 is 10.8 inches long so i guess that rules the scout out then :S

I have the phantom :)

As you can see in my sig, I like it rather a lot ;) it is quite simply the best case I have ever used, and would recommend it. But it won't work with a h70, unless the new revision is out

Hope this helps :)

I noticed the H70 problem! what a pain in the backside. I guess I will have to go for the HAF 932/X or maybe the Silverstone Raven 02
