1) Is it essential I use the non conductive paste supplied with the cooler or would silver 5 work better (if applied very carefully)

2) Do I have to tint the Heatsink (arctic recommend this for cpu's but I didn't know if the same applies to GPU's.

No advice on this Raven? You've fitted one of these have you not? To the op;

1. Would have thought the AS5 would be better, but, I wouldn't risk it as I've heard the slightest amount in the wrong place and KABOOM.

2. Dont know what this is so cant answer, sorry.:)

You can use it, but as you said you have to be very carful, it's not worth the risk.

By tint do you mean lap? If so then no.

1) I used MX-2 and the coolers are working great. I applied it to everything heatsinks touch, rather than just what the instructions tell you to. The supplied TIM is probably very good, but I know where I am with MX-2 and had some spare so I used that instead.

2) No point, just apply it as per the instructions included or mine.

I just applied it as the instructions and it dropped my temps to mid thirties at idle and mid 50s using kombuster and gaming. This is also now clocked at 750 which for some strange reason seems to have not effected temperatures much.(GTX 470)

Can anyone recommend a decent set of screwdrivers for this job? Is there a particular size I'd need for the stubborn screws?

Thanks

If you search VF3000F using the search function there is a thread about this and i think it tell you within that what size is required. I think it is a #1

Thought I'd seen the thread on here before but couldn't find it again. Never mind!

Not sure whether to fork out another £110 on the EVGA stepup to GTX580 or go for the Zalman cooler on my 480. The 480 is a beast of a card but I'm not happy with the racket and heat it kicks out. Like most, I'm a little nervous about stripping screws and the loss of 10 year warranty with EVGA if I go the Zalman route.

From what I understand, EVGA warranty isn't voided if you replace the heatsink with an aftermarket one, so long as you keep the stock one and reapply it before RMA'ing
