Hopefully someone knows of a remedy to this (looks to Feek) as it's really frustrating me.
So I'm trying to change my HD icon to that of a MacbookPro icns, like so.

(note this a png of the icns not the actual one)

My problem is that when I get Info on the icns it shows the default icns file which is what shows when I try to copy this to the HD get Info.
Like so:

I've tried all the usual tips, repair permissions/make sure I have permission etc but to no avail.
The strange thing is the one I currently use is an icns file that shows fine as a HD icon.

However, for some reason trying to use the MBP icon is a proper pain in the *** that doesn't wanna play ball.

Help me OcUK you're my only hope. :)

Sorry for the really slow answer, I have lots going on at the moment and haven't really been around much. Candybar will do it for you as it has a specific section for drive/volume icons and the trial is free.

for a single icon, candybar is overkill lol

download the png of the icon,

open it in preview and select all, then copy

right click drive icon and get info, click the icon top left corner till it's edges are outlined in blue ;)

go back to preview with the open PNG copy again just for good measure, then click on the get info box and hit cmd + v to paste the new icon in, job done

He's done that, it didn't work.

The Candybar method is good because you can assign different icons for different drives, by using the paste method it changes it for all devices.
