ok kinda half way through I decided to put a fresh install on different drives

I have

2 x 36 gb raptors (c,d)

2 x 150 gb raptors (f)

1 ide drive (e)

was gonna put windows on the 36`s raid - but then decided to put them on the 150s

now my windows installation is F:

is it possible to change my boot drives letter?

will it matter if I continue to use everything from F: instead?

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management.

Storage section>Disk management. This only works for non-boot drives. So C: to say Z: is out of the question here. You can do the other drives though.

You'd have to make the partitions you want, give them letters then install Windows to whichever partition you wanted it. Don't think you can change boot drive letter in Windows/once you've installed Windows. Search the forums though just in case there is a way.

:)

pretty sure it's not possible unless you start editing boot.ini and jiggling the disk volume ID's all a lot of work.

I ran window like this this (not on C:) drive for a while, it's actually not a problem, and is an advantage if you like to keep a tidy system, as a lot of crappy programs dump stuff on your c drive. This way it doesn't affect your windows install.

It's quite good having your system disk appear at the bottom of the drives in my computer, and having your media/storage drives first.

yeah cheers fellas.

thought not after searching a bit.... as long as it aint gonna be a bother with windows on F: Ill leave it.

Am finding these 150 raptors in raid better than the 36`s ..... nice.

the 36's are a lot louder, rip them out ;)

the 74's with 16mb cache are the fastest drives mind, once you've used raptor raid, you never turn back :)
