Changing drive to PS3 - recap

Don't want to mess it, let's recap:

1. backup everything to external drive, must be fat32?

2. change drive

Back up backs up EVERYTHING on the drive IIRC, google it to be sure!

if you have a 12gig then simply stick any new drive in. All the smaller files will remain and you won't need to reinstall anything as the operating system was on the 12gb section I just inserted the 500gb ps4 hdd in my 12gb ps3 and it formatted it and kept all my gamesaves on the 12gb bit. Only thing I did was uninstall game installs like gt3.

You'll lose all protected save files doing that as they won't be backed up (if you have PS+ you can back up those files to the cloud and (if I remember correctly you have to wait a few days before you can retrieve the files) restore them once the new hard drive is installed).

i have 320gb now in ps3...don't want too loose all the saves...got ps+ and i use cloud to all games.

If you do a full backup to an external drive, you won't lose anything.
