changing dvd region code

I am having trouble changing the region code on my satta dvd drive: namely that no region code selector appears to be available. The drive is new and so presumably it should have given me a number of attempts I am allowed to change the code. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks...I am using Vista 64

in xp its

control panel > Device manager > right click properties > dvd region

Thanks but in Vista it does not show. I am running a dual boot with xp: I wonder if that is causing the problem as xp was the primary os to begin with?

Hey ethan, if you type in "Device Manager" into the start menu search bar and hit enter. Once the "Device Manager" window has appeared, expand "DVD/CD-ROM Drives and right click on the appropriate device followed by "Properties". Then select the "DVD Region" tab.

I hope that is what you mean?

Shouldn't do, what does vista not show?

Type devmgmt.msc in the search it should appear, or are you talking about the region tab not appearing?

Sorted. It now appears to be available whereas before it was not. I don't know why and so it was this that was causing the problem and confusion. Weird. Thanks anyway though I am sure there is something funny going on with this sata drive?
