Changing EU licence for UK

My girlfriend has a licence issued in the EU, but she'd like to change it for a UK licence (according to the DVLA website, she is supposed to do this once resident here for 3 years).

She obtained her EU licence in 2000. Does anyone know whether the issue date of her UK licence will show as 2000 or 2010? Obviously, going from having held her licence for 10 years to 0 years could make quite a difference to her insurance.

I know this is a long shot but I thought someone here might have gone through the same process.

When we asked (both the DVLA and the police) if my GF of the time should apply for a UK license to replace her Slovak one, we were told she didn't need to.

She's been a resident for well over 4 years now.

If the issue date will be 2010 then I'll try to persuade her not to bother.

The only downside is that she wants some extra driving lessons as she hasn't driven in a while, and the AA atleast won't do it unless she has a UK licence.

The issue date will be current but the pass date will be the date she passed her test so she will not loose on insurance ie if she passed her test on 01 April 2001 it will say so on UK license.

Ditto to above regarding dates etc, my GF exchanged her EU one for a UK one (as my insurers wanted more to insure on the EU than UK one, even though it's the same driver!)
