Changing from 802.11b + 802.11g to 802.11a

Hi there,

I'm currently trying to link my xbox360 and laptop via windows media center, but am having issues when it comes to the third step of the setup.

My 360 tells me I have network hardware that supports 802.11a and that I may experience problems if i dont change the band, but when i go into my router control panel, I only have the options for 'disable, mixed, b or g'.

I'm reasonably sure my router (Linksys WAG354G) is only B and G capable? or do i not know what im talking about? im not that confident when it comes to networking!

Any help would be great!

The WAG354G only does 802.11g (which can fall back to 802.11b). There's no good reason to use 802.11a

I see. For some reason it keeps jamming up on configuring extender settings. Ports 88 and 3074 are open on both UDP and TCP.

802.11a (5.4ghz) is good if you experience interference in the 802.11b/g band (2.4ghz).
