Hey guys, graphics card arrives (hopefully) tomorrow, I'm staying in in the morning to recieve it and probably install it. Just wondering if there are any common issues changing from an nVidia card (7200 GS) to an ATI (4670). Driver issues, anything really.

Thanks in advance,
Stew

use a program called driver sweeper, sweep out the old nvidia drivers. it removes all traces of previouly installed drivers. not doing so could cause you a problem

Uninstall your nvidia drivers.
Start in Safe Mode (F8)
Run 'Driver Sweeper' (remove all remaining nvidia leftovers)
Restart
Install new ATi drivers.

Job done.

I'm borrowing an ati tomorrow as i think my nvidia has died. Are there any alternatives to Driver sweeper in vista?, as i've got it installed ready :)

before you install the new card:

-unistall the drivers, control panel and any other Nvidia bits and pieces on your system

-reboot to check if you want, your computer should try to 'install new hardware' when you get into Windows, this shows that you haven't got any drivers lurking

-switch off and put in your new card

-start it up and install new drivers for ATi card

-done ;)

(i have never bothered with driver sweeper / cleaners and I have never had any issues)
