Changing from NVIDIA to ATI

Can anyone tell me the best way to switch from a NVIDIA card to a ATI card please? Do I just uninstall the card from control panel?
 
Is this the order I should be doing it?

1 - Uninstall current NVIDIA card through control panel
2 - Restart in Safe Mode and run Driversweeper
3 - Power down and change cards over
4 - Install new ATI drivers

Also whats ATI Catalyst?
