We've got about 10 VMware servers that have been installed with the wrong media / key (retail PID 012) instead of an VLA key (640).

One of the servers has now come up with product activation issues and we want to get the servers changed to the right PID type.

Any pointers? I worked through a few Microsoft KBs, but with no success.

Failing that we'll log a call with Premier support for assistance..

Servers are 2003 R2 standard SP2 - 32 bit

Experience so far has been that when that's happened to us (idiot engineer used Technet disc + key instead of MVLS + MAK) that we've had to reinstall. Premier support eventually came up with a response along those lines for us, although I'm happy to be proven wrong 'cause it's a right ballache to have to do something like this.
