Parents house is currently on standard broadband....13Mbps down 1 up type thing.
Infinity is now available at their exchange so going to upgrade to that.
Will they lose the standard bb they’ve got just now until the fibre is sorted out or would one be switched off then the fibre switched on, on the same day?

Still not fibre, it's just marketing nonsense, It's VDSL over copper.

So it should be a straightforward upgrade.

I think the “Fibre 1” package is cheaper than what they’re on just now.
Biggest reason is to get unlimited tho....they have 50GB limit just now

It should be a seamless transition.

If you are getting a new router then plugging that in and booting it up should be all the downtime you'll get.

It can go off for a bit, mine did last time I changed from ADSL to 'fibre'. They do advise that it can be anytime upto midnight on the day of switch, this is just to cover their backsides though and so you dont call till the next day. In my experience its only really ever 'off' for a few minutes before it switches over.
