System Intel I7 3930K, core speed 4500.04, Graphics card GTX670, I overclocked this system about 4 years ago. I would like to upgrade the graphics card to, ZOTAC nVidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 4K. My problem I would need to update the bios to the latest version I think which would disable my overclock, I am now 74 and find it difficult to concentrate, any ideas would be much appreciated.

What makes you think you’d need a BIOS upgrade? Graphics cards generally work without making any changes.

Also, if you can, I’d recommend the 1060 6GB variant if you can find one at a similar price. Better performance. The 3GB version doesn’t just have half the memory, it’s cut back in other ways too.

It says on the web site.
*This motherboard is ready to support PCIe 3.0 SPEC. Functions will be available when using PCIe 3.0-compliant devices. Please refer to www.asus.com for updated details.
> Get the latest BIOS version for optimal support of PCI Express 3.0.

But I will have a look at the 1060 6GB.

Looking at the BIOS releases, one of the earlier ones from 23 Dec 2011 (ver 0906) added "Enhance PCIe 3.0 Support Capability."

So, presuming your BIOS version isn't one of the first releases, it's PCIe 3.0 support should be good. Would be good to find that out though, to be certain.

If you wanted to do a bios update Then there is usually an option in the bios to save/load profile though this doesn't always work so a good idea is to to take pictures of the settings as a back up.
