I think I might have a go at replacing the thermal paste on my GTX670 WF x3 GPU.

Not sure why but it seems mine needs a lot more fan speed to keep it under 70c than others here.

Just seeing if anyone has taken the heatsink off before and if there is anything I should look out for?

Email gigabyte and see if they will mind you doing this. I'm sure most don't mind as long as there is no visible damage etc.

How's the airflow of your case by the way?

If you don't have a fan at the side-panel as exhaust, the chance are the heat get dump into the case by the "dump heat into case" type cooler will lead to heat building up at the lower half of the case and increase temp over time.

Intake or exhaust? I have a side fan pointing on my GTX670 WF as intake, I keep temps below 60 in all games. Guess I'll try exhaust and see how that differs...

I haven't as it's unnecessary as the temps are very good. It's more likely you may have bad case airflow, what fan profile have you setup and is your card overclocked?

It's depended on if your case already got good intake from front and/or bottom middle. If you don't have good front intake, it might be better to have side panel fan mount as intake; however if you already got sufficient cool air being delivered to the graphic card, and it would be better to have the side-panel fan as exhaust to efficiently have cold air pushes hot air out of the case to keep the air flow nature, rather than mixing cold and hot air together to make warm air remain at the lower half of the case.
