Hi all, I was just wondering if it would be possible for me to upgrade my HDD on my new Acer laptop with a 7200rpm model that I already own. The only problem I can see is that I don't have a copy of windows as my laptop didn't ship with one . So is there any way I can work around that? I've made their backup disks already dunno if they'd work the same way.

Plug the new hard drive in and go into the bios and change the boot order to have the CD/DVD come on first. There may already be an 'F' key to press to boot from a certain device. Depends on the model and bios revision.

you could change the hdd and do image copy from old hdd to a new one.

How do I do that mate?

Nymins thats cool but will my backup DVD that I made with the ACER backup program just install what I had on the old hdd windows 7 inc to the new one?

Thanks for the all the replies, I made a backup DVD of my hdd using the acer e-recovery program and changed the hard drive over and am now up and running :D
