Lo all,

My current hosting with Freezone.co.uk come to an end at the end of this month and I'm looking for a change. I'm very tempted by Vidahost's low prices and good reviews in here. However, I've never changed hosts before so I'm not really sure what I'm doing.

Do I need to contact Freezone to tell them I'm changing or will Vida do that kind of thing for me?

Cheers

Ideal thanks for the quick reply blade,

I've just been reading there site and it all seems fairly easy. I've not got anything too complicated to copy across.

Thanks for the extra info.

I've just contacted Freezone to get an EPP code and they are asking for £30 to transfer the domain! Surely they are taking the proverbial? My subscription with them ends on the 31st for crying out loud.

Is it a case of just waiting until the 1st of November and then buying from Vidahost from scratch?

Cheers again

Thanks for the info malef!c.

The more I do at the moment the less impressed I am with Freezone.co.uk
I checked my bank balance today and I've been charged £50 for the renewal of my hosting with them. It seems I was signed up to auto-renew and so they have just debited my account.

So much for me changing now!

I think I'm just going to have to live with it as there was obviously some tick-box I missed when I first signed up - it's probably all covered by their Ts&Cs so I doubt I have much of a leg to stand-on.

Might be worth a phonecall...

Just a quick update guys,

I e-mailed them RE: a refund and they say that according to their Ts&Cs the auto-renewal is managed by the user and as such they are not accountable and they won't give me a refund.

I'm less than happy with this - anyone got any ideas what I can do in this situation? I made the mistake of purchasing this with a debit card rather than a credit card - will this make a chargeback impossible or can it still be done?

Cheers

Thought you lot might like an update - After a couple of phone-calls I settled for them pricematching Vidahost.

The poor guy on the other end of the phone got a bit of a talking to - not rude or aggressive but forceful enough to get the point across.

It seems that their opt-in for the auto renewal is actually an opt-out despite what they might say and I think this was what won the argument. It seems that when you sign-up you have to untick a box to say that you don't want the service, rather than the other way around.

Rest assured I will be finding another host in a years time - safe in the knowledge that I am not on any auto-renewal lists.
