currently have the Antec NSk2480 case which is a bit bulky.

Inside is the 380W antec ATX PSU that comes with the case, a 780G microATX motherboard, X2 4850e processer, 2GB ram and 2 x 3.5" hard drives and a DVD drive.

It uses 60W of power just in windows, going upto 70-80 whilst playing HD videos.
Would obviously like something that uses less so i can leave it on nearly all the time.

Option 1 is to find a smaller case which fits all the above. So any suggestions would be welcome. obviously it would be using same power consumption.

Option 2 is get something like a Acer Revo with Atom 330 and Ion. And bung in the hard drives in an external esata or USB enclosure. I can use the old HTPC as my work PC. so it wouldn't go to waste. I'd lose the dvd drive. although an external usb one would do the job

Option 3 is build my own Ion Atom 330 system. in which case i have no idea where to start. espeacially which cases should i be looking for. how much watts should the PSU be.
Would something like the Antec ISK 300 Mini-ITX Case With 65W be enough?
If anyone can spec me the cheapest atom 330 ion htpc with 2gb of ram and a small but fastish HDD just for the OS I'd be grateful.

get a 'silverstone' case and put in a Asus AT3N7A-I
any mini itx case would be good enough
i wouldnt stick the hard disks in a external enclosure because neat integration is the atoms main selling point
when you're talking about ITX hardware you'll find that performance is always pegged by the cpu so any hard disk will do. Its DDR2 so cheap as chips.

do you have tv cards on the matx motherboard?
