One of my housemates found a good Black Friday deal for a change of service / ISP. An engineer is coming out next week. However, my other housemate who organised / sorts payment for the original ISP still hasn't cancelled our current service, which apparently requires two weeks notice. Will we simply be able to swap over the service regardless of the current one not yet being cancelled?

Only ask because the engineer will apparently charge a fee if they are come out unecessarily. We don't mind postponing if the swap over will be an issue.

Your new ISP should inform your old ISP that you're moving.

Have you complicated matters by taking out the new connection in a different name?

Yep. Housemate number 1 who has the current contract is moving out in Feb, so seemed like a good time to find a new deal.

Good questions. When HM number 1 moved in they brought the contract and phone number with them. I shall enquire which number was used for the new contract. I doubt there would be a termination fee for the outgoing contract. More concerned that when the engineer arrives this week he'll be able to hook us up and we won't get a fee for him coming out if he can't.
