Im quite happy with virgin media on 2meg as i only game and am a heavy download user on night where traffic management doesnt come into play.

I got offered free broadband with be for 1 year but changing my line to bt says it will cost £120 for reactivation, anyway i can get around this? Im sure the line isnt damaged and i dont hear a tone but i think thats cos its not activated. Even so, 120 for a simple job is very steep considering thats including £11 a month

You can try arguing with them, see if they will do you a better deal as a returning customer etc. but it is generally non-negotiable.

Some people on here have reported that the post office are doing reconnections for £100 and no contract on the line which might be worth a look.

Also if your ISP of choice does a voice package you could see if they can hook you up for less - my neighbour just moved to Sky from VM and they paid for the line to be activated though that was with an 18 month contract I believe.

i give them a call and to no avail. There was enough problems just trying to join so i cant imagine how bad it would be actually being contracted to them. Told them where to shove their £120 (oh but its over 6 months) deal, im a happy virgin customer was only going to switch because of free broadband offer but i'l pass

No longer need input just making everyone aware thnx. They checked my line and says they need to send an engineer as when they checked the line on the phone they say an engineer will need to be sent out
