Changing ISPs

If you do it as a migration the downtime should be limited to a few minutes while the little BT monkey swaps things over at their end.

how it "should" go;)

I see searching through all the posts regarding changing ISPs that you have just changed from Pipex. Was it easy?

Depends which ISPs you're changing between.

IPStream - IPStream migrations should be trivial with a few minutes of downtime (in theory), migrations involving LLU typically take longer, because there's some human intervention required.

It was reasonably pain free - phoned Pipex, sat in the queue for 10 mins, managed to get through to the woman in migrations, ignored the "we can give you faster for less" script and was promised a MAC code within 5 days. Five days came & went with no email so phoned them again and ended up spending at least 5 minutes trying to deal with someone who thought moving his mouth when talking was optional... Got through to migrations and eventually got the code over the phone.

It was then just a case of ordering the new service online and following the instructions in the various emails. I was actually out at the scheduled migration time so came back in and fired up the router, changed over to the new login details and that was it, done and working.
