Hi,

I seem to have found myself in a wee pickle. So a little while ago I stood on, and broke my netbook's 10.1" LCD screen. The screen still functioned, I could see some parts of the screen ok, but where I put my fat foot was a mess.

About 10 minutes ago I tried to install a new one. I connected the ribbon to the new LCD screen and then connected the charging cable to the laptop (everything was disconnected and connected with the battery and power cable removed). The second I plugged in the power cable (before I pressed the power button) The whole screen went white and then slowly turned black. Since then, nothing!

I'm guessing that I somehow burnt the new LCD screen, I'm sure the ribbon was correctly connected. Any advice?

Edit: I should also add that the netbook works perfectly when connected to a monitor via a VGA cable. If the new (not working) screen is connected then the monitor shows the laptop's default resolution, but if it's not connected the monitor shows the default resolution of the monitor (The monitor is an old 4:3 ratio so the difference is clear as a black border is present when running the netbook's default resolution). I'm therefore assuming it's not a graphics problem and that the netbook is aware that an LCD screen is connected to it.
