hi all,

I am trying to upgrade a "Zoostorm" branded PC (945GC VB Series) which has a Foxconn n15235 motherboard.

When I take out the 512MB DDR2 stick which was pre-installed and replace it with a 1GB stick, it gives loads of errors like STOP 0x000000A3 : ACPI_DRIVER_INTERNAL and another stop error I saw.

Any idea what the problem is please? I checked the RAM is the same type and speed etc...

It may also be worth noting that when the 1GB stick is added to the 512MB stick the OS (Vista) won't boot at all, stuck on the Verifying DMI Pool Data screen after the BIOS...

thanks in advance! I havn't troubleshooted something like this for ages.

no, i'll do that now. You think I may have purchased duff ram?

Well you are replacing one module with a near identical one and it doesn't work, the two possible problems are that the RAM doesn't work or there is a compatibility issue.

The other thing to look at is that the mobo can take 1gb sticks, as per the post above it may need a new BIOS.

Also have you tried booting with just the 1gb stick installed?

just for completeness, it was duff memory, reinstalled a fresh 1Gb stick and it works fine, although it sticks at "Verifying DMI pool data, update success" if I put both the 1GB stick and the existing 512MB stick in :S any ideas on that one?

it's not mine i'm fixing it for a mate. Should see the difference between 512MB and 1GB on Vista it's like night and day!

My first thought was it could be an issue with dual-channel, but when I looked up that mobo on the Foxconn website, it only allows single channel:

Could be an issue with diferent speeds/timings of the diferent sticks?

Vista would run even better with 2Gb, so why not get another 1Gb stick for your mates machine. :)
