Hello,

So I will be changing Motherboard from Intel to AMD shortly but keeping the current SSD (holds OS - Win10) + HDD (storage), from what i've read its recommended to clean install windows to help against driver conflicts from old mobo drivers.

I have a few questions:
1) Update BIOS first? If I put the latest BIOS files on a USB it should install from there on the BIOS? The new motherboard is ASUS B350m-a.
2) Is a clean install necessary? (I have a USB drive with the installation tool ready if needed)
3) I have a extra HDD that is used for storage of music/video/photos if I reinstall windows on the SSD will it also clear/repartition the HDD (and wipe everything) as well? Or can I just leave it plugged in during a re installation.
4) anything else to keep in mind?

Yes you should definitely do a fresh install.

Update bios from USB is best.
Check for updated driver's ect if its an M2 drive for when you install, if it just a sata you will be fine.
I usually unplug any storage drives ect, you don't need to but I do in case you accidentally install to the wrong drive.
All your stuff will be there when you plug it back in

Note on win10, you will need to ‘troubleshoot’ activation (it won’t activate) and select that you have recently changed hardware. If you got the installation media a while ago it’s worth refreshing as it will include the creators update etc.

If you have any issues remove the old device from your Microsoft account.

Thanks for the advice, I have the digital license sorted. Does the troubleshoot option only appear when there is a problem/no activation?

Actually I wouldn't reinstall at all. Just try it and see. Worst comes to worst you can repair install, or do a clean install if that doesn't sort it. I wouldn't assume it would be totally non-functional. I went from X58 to Z370, not convinced intel to amd would make that much diff.
