Hi Folks,

My current mobo the Asus A8N-SLi has gone up the creek. I was thinking of getting this as a replacement -

OcUK Value JWT-N570 SLI nForce 570 SLI (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

I currently use an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core. Will I be ok with the above mobo? Anything missing from it that was present on my old mobo?

Please advise.

TIA:)

The Asus A8N-SLi is socket 939, whilst the OcUK Value JWT-N570 is socket AM2.

You'll be needing to find another 939 board.

Damn. Thanks for the replies.

Any recommendations? I only need something to get my machine on its feet again while I wait a couple of months for Asus to send me my replacement mobo (old one still under guarantee until september this year).

Apologies for reviving an old thread.

3 weeks ago I sent my mobo to Asus and I received email confirmation from them that it had been received by them.

As per confirmation from them, their turnaround time is 3 weeks from the date of receiving the item. My mobo was received by them on the 22nd January, tommorrow the 3 week turnaround time will be complete.

If nothing is heard from Asus or my mobo is not returned to me in working condition within this time, what is the procedure? Do I just request a brand new up to date mobo from them?

If they provide me with the latest mobo as a replacement, can I request a new processor since my current AMD 4400+ wont be any use to me?

Sorry if this sounds really thick but thought Id ask none the less.

ASUS aren't known for their fast responses. You may well have to wait another week.

But you'll get another 939 board back.

Once again apologies for reviving this thread.

Motherboard received.

Stupid question though it might be, should I just go ahead and reinsert the processor as normal and sit the cooler back on top?

Do I need to reapply some cooling compound again? Should I clean the processor and heatsink/fan before doing this? If so how?

Best bet is to put fresh heatsink compound on, you clean ther old stuff off by using nail varnish remover or alcohol will do.

Just re-insert your processor place the fresh compond on and reseat your heatsink, then give the cmos a quick reset away you go.
