Make sure your motherboard can take that proceesor and check for any BIOS updates from the motherboard manufacturer.

What is your current spec.

Q6600, 4GB memery, Abit lp35 pro motherboard,4870 gpu 1024, is that ok ,im a bit slow on this sort of stuff fella

Whats your Q6600 running at ?

If I read the Abit cpu support section correctly the E8600 is not yet listed as o'k with the board? If anyone is actually using please contradict me

You might need to update the boards BIOS to REV 17, but I have just checked the Abit website and the E8600 is not on the support list!

I would recommeded doing a CMOS reset before starting for the first time, you can use the switch at the back :)
