Hello all,

i have been playing arma on a server i enjoy with friends but recently let my brother play and not follow the strict rules. i have a blocked steam account and i presume my router mac address as even though i am using a new steam account (kindly paid for from said brother) i still cant connect. I tested the new account with my mobile and that works, so something ip wise is blocked on my router

i have a asus rt-n56u with custom firmware, this is the option i have under advanced settings>WAN

He cannot block your router MAC address.

Your steamID (ARMA 3 GUID) will be banned. No way to avoid it other than new steam account. Though the problem with this is your GUID will be "cached" so switching accounts won't resolve it with some trickery

What server was it? Trust me if you like.


EDIT: If you didn't change your IP address when trying to connect with the second account then you'll have likely just given that steamID/GUID free away to be banned.

new steam account works on this pc using my mobile phone for internet. does not work with my virgin connection. so they have blocked something internet wise.

i have been playing on my phone all week, they don't check,
 
Probably blocked your client MAC address or hardware ID then. But I can't really help unless I know which server/mod it is.

Hardware ID can be changed using regedit.

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography
Try changing one character of that ID (back up the original just incase anything bad happens, but I've changed mine a few times and had no issues)

MAC Address can be spoofed using software i.e. SMAC

I have msg you the name. 100% it is related to my internet \ router. I just connected to neighbours WiFi and new account works on that.
 
It'll be your IP address. Try putting your Superhub back into router mode and bypass the RT-N56U as this will change your WAN IP, then see if that works.

I'm unsure with Virgin how to force a change of IP apart from going between modem only and router modes as they use sticky IP addresses. From memory, once you go back to the RT-N56U, you will go back to the IP you used to have.

You could also try using a VPN server.

that is a good call, i can try the super-hub direct. I will be replacing my ASUS modem later in the year will that generate a new WAN IP?
 
If you're bored, search for posts of mine in the Virgin Media thread, from around 2011/2012 or so. I spent a few days experimenting going between my Superhub and my ASUS router by being put on different UBR. I think I wrote what IP addresses I was getting, or at least a difference in them.
 
clicked '+' on the mac address option in my first screen shot which generated a code and then connected fine... lol problem solved
